While the weather was still warm (until 3 days ago it was consistently 60 degrees F here, very unusual) I took Sal out one bright afternoon and set him on the ground in the clover. He started wheeking at the top of his lungs and immediately scurried around looking for some place to hide. I took him back in, and he was quite happy to be in the cage.

Take a cardboard box or his hidey next time to give him shelter.

The big outdoors are a frightening space for a prey animal, and they need getting used to!

Hi Pat x>>

Lovely to hear from you again :)

I guess Salvatore's feeling a bit insecure about the unfamilar grass place.
If it's going to be a routine him going on the grass, I'm sure he'll get used to that, with a little help from a hidey box and put something that smells familiar in with him.

There's no holding my Rebel back, I put his steps down, open the hutch door, and he's off like a shot! He hasn't got a nervous bone in his body. I think someone forgot to tell him he's a prey animal. He explores the garden (all secure to prevent escape) far and wide with the occasional nip back into the shed for a drink, then he's off again! :)) :)) :))
