I just wanted to let you all know that I have been following the instructions given here and on the referral links about keeping Sal clean of the poop balls that form in the cecotrope pocket. I've cut back on the veggies, which indeed helps to keep such huge balls from forming, and I express the ball that does form, much to Salvatore's chagrin.
There is just one problem left that we cannot do anything about, and it is MY problem, not his — the poop ball just smells so TERRIBLE! I would say that the odor probably has some biological function as I can scrub my hands afterward several times and the smell will still be on my skin. (I don't use gloves because my sense of touch is highly impaired and I don't want to hurt him by further not being able to feel him.)
Thanks again for being such a fine resource. Hugs and kisses to all.

Glad you are managing to help Sal out with his delicate problem Pat and lovely to see you drop by. I was only thinking of 'Red' the other day bless him. Maybe try some F10 soap to wash with, we have some for when we have fungal outbreaks to wash hands in after touching pigs. It is very strong smelling so may help with you hand small issues. Will have a look for US links for you
