I made the mistake of buying a guinea pig from Petsmart, and within a week it had died of URI. We had it on medication and everything. :(
My question is, can I use the same food/water bottle/hay if I adopt a new one? I don't want to risk transferring the disease. Also, how soon can I bring a new one into my house?
Thanks!

I would throw out hay and any loose bedding. You need to fully sterlise the cage bowl bottle. A vet dis infectant is best but not sure what you have in the US.

In UK I would suggest F10 or Virkon.

failing this use a pet disinfectant from petstore. Then you can use a baby sterilising liquid or tablets on the bowl / bottle.

Sorry for your loss x
