I went into my local just for pets shop for supplies and saw a sign that said they were no longer selling guinea pigs or rabbits. They had a touch screen with news from and details of the local rescues. If you give a home to animals from one of the participating rescues you are given a certificate that entitles you to a discount on purchases in the store. Don't know if this is a local initiative or nationwide. A small step for improvement in animal welfare but fantastic news and well done them for organising this.

Wow that's lovely! It would be a tough thing to set up, but it would be great to have shops & rescues working together.

And NOT the pets at home way of chucking them in a small enclosure (usually on their own) and giving false information.

I had a look on their web site but they didn't mention this scheme on line, I do hope they are doing it in all their stores. I think they are a fairly large chain.
