I got my 3 girls on Tuesday, and have noticed scabs on 2 of them. Peach has what looks like dry skin (no blood or broken skin) under her ear, and a couple of thick scabs on her hip. Larkin has a crusted blood scab under her chin and one on her side. I haven't noticed any itching or them biting each other. Would it hurt to treat them for mites myself, or should I take them to the vet?

It might not be mites it might be fungal. Both are easily treated and cheaper to treat yourself but if you are not experienced i recommend you go to the vet as self treatment can actually do more harm than good if you end up treating for the wrong thing x

I would take them to the vet, it could be mange mites or even fungal and only a vet can diagnose. If it is fungal I recommend Imaverol dips as it is gentle enough to use on babies. I can give you the link once you have a diagnosis.

Please have them checked and don't treat on spec. Mange mites or fungal need different treatment. You may need to treat all three to prevent anything contagious spreading to your third girl.
