I’ve had my guineas for a period of 5 years and nothing has ever happened to them until fudge wouldn’t open his eye. the vet isn’t open so I left it for one day thinking it would heal up a bit and maybe it was just banoffee (the other guinea) who had a fight with him. Today I woke up and first thing I did was check on him to find his eye TURNED RED with what looks like a coiled up white thing (worm? Parasite of some sort). I can’t take him to the vets until Monday (we live in a verryyyyy rural area) and I’m so concerned. I don’t mind if he has to take his eye out as long as he’s not suffering because I feel so bad. He’s living a happy life and grazes constantly. Does anyone know what to do before taking him to the vets and what it is? I hope it doesn’t go to his brain
