My 2 girls were outside on the grass today and have come back inside scratching like mad. What could this be?

Can you see anything on their skin? It could be the onset of mange mites, which are invisible. Please give them a good look. Otherwise they may have come up again some biting insects? I am not familiar with Australian fauna.

►As the seasons change, we here in the US are going into plant dormancy while you are going into plant revival. I would suspect a reaction to the growing grass or to grass pollen or any other pollen that has settled where the piggies played. I gave Salvatore a bath and fortunately that took care of his itching, which is why I would suspect that.
►Seriously consider the possibility of mites as suggested by Wiebke; they are probably beginning to breed too and if they are like ticks or mosquitoes the females will need a blood meal to lay their eggs.

I got the drops you put on their backs from the vets and they said if there was anything there, that should fix it. :) ill keep a close eye on their skin just incase.
