Hi,

Over the last month I have been back and forward from the vet with my poor little scratchy. After over £100 in vet bills, antibiotics, pain killers and numerous consultations the vet has finally agreed to have him in for an x-ray.

I am 99.9% sure he has a bladder stone/stones. He hunches up and stands on his tiptoes and whimpers when peeing (this only started yesterday). His belly is also wet. He has stopped drinking as much water and has come down in weight. At he moment he is on antibiotics, pain killers and I am also syringe feeding him food and water.

I was just wondering if anyone has experience with bladder stones as my little guy is having his scan on Wednesday morning. Scratchy is around 6 years old and due to this the vet said he has a slimmer chance of pulling through an operation. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Jody and the piggies xx

I dont know what to advise to be honest. Ive never had a piggie with any bladder stones, just cystitis. At the age of 6 yes, an anesthetic would be a little bit more risky, but dont let it put you off too much. Ive aneathetised 5/6 year old piggies with very little problems so dont panic if you have a good vet. Unfortunatly a bladder stone really cant be left, so some sort of medical intervention is needed.

Let us know how you get on, sorry, i cant help much.

..it might be a journey but I suspect it will be worth it...both for your piggie and your purse!

And yes..urinary stones issus seems like a good bet given your description..
