Selective naturals grain free

Hello everyone.

Has anyone tried selective naturals grain free nuggets?

Noticed them in PAH the other day. I feed both my girls JR Grainless and have done for years since Daisy developed a bladder stone. My main reason for using JR was from the advice on here and that they are low in calcium.

Does anyone know how the selective nuggets compare? The info doesn't say anything about calcium levels but notice there is calcium carbonate on the ingredient list which I'm thinking probably means they are no good.

Was hoping they may be an alternative as buying JR farm online doesn't come cheap especially once they add on delivery charges!
 
Mine loves it. They’ve had Wagg and Supreme Selective. For a few days I mixed them all up and they picked out all the grainless and left the rest!
 
Hi! I am using the Selective grain free at the moment, alongside the original version. Squeaks seems to like them about equally; he doesn't eat lots of nuggets anyway, but I'm not finding that one type all gets eaten before the others. They do both contain calcium carbonate, the grain free says min 0.4%, max 1%, whereas the other just says 0.8%.
 
Mine eat this and love it. They hoover it up as soon as I put it in their bowls.
 
My boys LOVE the grainless I wouldn’t go back to anything else with them. One bag lasts my two boys exactly one month.
 
I’ve started mine on these since I noticed calcium deposits in both the boys and girls cage and since they started on them there’s been none and they all eat them
 
This is what my piggies eat every day, but they dont eat many as they arent too keen on pellets- pellets are a bored at 3am food for my lot after they peed on all the hay (even in the hay rack, Piggle is the queen of peeing in unexpected places) :) they wont eat any other pellets at all!
 
They are cheaper on Amazon than at Pets at Home I think, you can click the subscribe and save option then you get a bag delivered every month for cheaper :)
 
Sorry to hijack but can I just ask if it’s better to feed a low calcium food to help prevent bladder problems or just used as management for bladder pigs? I know with dog food that is grain free it’s considered a much better food (our dogs are on grain free as one itches) is it the same for the grain free guinea pig food?

It’s always worth doing certain things like always filter water and not feed too much high calcium veg.I have switched to the selective grain free nuggets because of a lot of white calcium deposits in both my boys and girls cages and it’s really helped.

Thankyou that’s really helpful. Only just got my 2 boars but will be careful not to feed a lot of high calcium veg and may look at the grain free nuggets when they are a bit older (on Harrington’s at moment)

Harrington’s are good.My lot used to love them.
 
After a calcium stone issue in one of my girls I switched all piggies to grain free pellets. Mine have a mix of Versele Laga cavia complete and the Selective grain free pellets. They are thoroughly enjoyed by all the piggies here.
