Hi there, my name is Skye. I j have two pigs. Twix (left) abnd Biscuit (right). What i want to ask is... Biscuit has a broken toe on her back foot, well long healed now but the claw is very thick and brittle. It nevers bothers her to touch it but as soon as i have to cut her nails she freaks. I know she hates the full process but this nail is a real hassle for her. Does anyone know of a better way to do it as it is really stressing her. Thank you! Xx

It is most likely the memory of the pain that makes her freak. You can try to distract her by letting her become absorbed in stuffing her face with grass or her favourite veg, so she will be less aware. I don't think that filing will make a difference in response. Otherwise, only time will heal as she slowly becomes aware that she is no longer hurting.

I am having a similar problem with one of my piggies hating it if come anywhere near the long healed patch where she used to repeatedly gnaw herself open after having been rescued with a bad case of mites.

I've tried veg and despite how much Biscuit love her food she loves being a drama queen more! lol I haven't tried filing i could see if she takes that better! Food should hopefully keep her still long enough! I don't think its helping that i keep catching Twix trying to nibble her toes! Its been two years since she hurt her toe but sometimes i suspect she's just trying to guilt trip me so i let her go! She's really not a happy pig when her claws are being cut! Thank you for the advice! :) Xx
