Hi there
Max is on septrim at the moment, but I have forgetten how long the vet said I have to give it to him for? He is on 0.5ml twice a day. But it it usually proscribed for a week? Or two? I'm not sure. He has had it for 9 days so far?

Septrin works a bit slower than baytril and should ideally be given 2-3 weeks with a UTI.

fantastic thank you , for a week I was giving it to him 0.5ml twice a day as the vet ordered, but as I was unsure whether I was allowed to give it to him for more than a week so for the last 3 days I have given it to him 0.5ml once a day just in case, is this ok? he seems ok, and when I took him to the vet originally about his runny nose the vet did say that his chest and breathing was fine lungs ect all good. So it did seem like just a runny nose? Not a full UTI with wheezy breathing etc...

Should I continue with the 0.5ml once a day, or try go back to twice a day again? Just don't want to mess his stomach up going up dosage

If in doubt, you can always speak to your vet on the phone for confirmation; he has done the examination, not us! ;)

Yeah she's on holiday at the moment thought I would get a few opinions first that's all :) thanks for your help though

Usually they will only dispense enough for you to finish the course (unless they've given you a massive bottle) so with my vet, you keep going until you've finished what they supplied.

Worth a check with the vet though.
