Last Friday I bathed Amber in a shampoo and melt from gorgeous guineas because she has a fungal infection. I repeated it again this week (as it said on the information sheet) and I've just finished her bath. I've had her on a towel on my lap for the past 10 minutes and she's almost dry now, but she's twitching a lot, like suddenly picking her bum up off the floor every now and then, and she wheeks sometimes too. She also keeps shaking. Is this because she's cold after her bath? Sorry if I'm just being paranoid but Amber has had so many things wrong with her since I got her that I worry about everything now

Shivering after a bath is quite normal, just make sure she is actually warm in her towel and - if she'll let you without getting too frightened - use the hairdryer on a low setting to help get her dried off. Once she is completely dry, she'll stop shivering.

Ok thank you, sorry I feel really dumb now :red I thought it would be better to ask than not know

i had this problem when i bathed mine i was worried. its ok tho just keep them warm i wrap david up in a towel and put him in his bed he loves it and soon warms up.

craig seems to dry quicker as he is less furry xx

I've put her back in the hutch and she won't move much, she just sits and shakes. She was completley dry, and had plenty of hay etc. to burrow into. She also didn't move when I went to touch her :( She's not wheeking now just shaking, but I thought if she was cold she'd move around to warm up? Or do guinea-pigs just huddle up when they get cold? I've got to go to the shop in a minute but I've left her some dandelions, a full bowl of food and plenty of hay which she is laying in and when I get back I'm going to give her some cucumber so it will be easier for me to know whether or not she's eaten.

When I bath my piggies, I always do it on a warm day and bath them in the morning. I then keep them indoors until they are completely dry before putting them in their hutch. It can sometimes take hours for mine to dry off completely.

I am sure that Amber will be fine :)

Ok thank you, I would do it in the morning and I did last Friday but I've been at school today and I know I probably should have left it till tommorow morning but I'm going to look at some guinea-pigs tommorow and I was hoping that would just finish off the last of her fungal infection so she would be able to have a friend sooner. Reading that back I know I sound selfish but she's been alone for about a week and really seems lonely so the sooner I can get her a friend the better.

I feel like such an idiot :red I've just been to check on her and she's eaten almost all of the big chunk of cucumber I gave her about an hour ago, she's eaten some hay and is now running round her hutch as normal, the only thing thats not good is she's now in a bad mood because I woke her up :)) Sorry for worrying and thank you :)

Don't feel silly. Sometimes I wake up in the night and go into the living room just to check my pigs are still there! I lift up their little curtain and they give me such a filthy look for waking them up. :(|)

Glad Amber is ok and I hope you can find her a new friend soon. x

Thank you, I'm so relieved she's OK :)
