Shampoo?

I recently got a shampoo for the guinea pigs from the brand “all living things” from the pet store. Now we all know the pet store doesn’t really give the best products so I’m curious if this is a good/decent shampoo for the piggies. I just want to at least know if it’s safe or not. Also if you guys have any shampoo recommendations that would be great. (Product pic/ingredients shown)

I use Gorgeous Guineas shampoo which is good stuff. I think @HeatherRose ordered some and she's in the US. Can't link in on this device. A Google search will bring up the website.

Yes, I love Gorgeous Guineas! I tell people that I have it specially imported from the UK for Rapunzel! People already think I’m a little crazy about the piggies, so I like to add to that.

Gorgeous Guineas Posh'n'Go shampoo is very good, we have a piggy girl with a very yucky grease gland who needs regular bum baths (the vet suggested every 2 weeks which is far more than most piggies need) and its very mild for her skin. And for Jezzy floof who sometimes has long haired wee pants and also has dry flaky skin, it doesnt irritate her skin at all

I've used the Posh'n'Go for Christian's grease gland. When he first hurt his back and could hardly move his back legs, his grease gland was horrible cos he couldn't clean himself properly. Now his back is getting better, he can keep himself clean.

Thank you for sharing you recipe, however can I just add that it is not advisable to use ingredients like dish washing liquid which is very harsh and will potentially dry the skin and damage the fur. Indiscriminate use of random essential oils is also generally not recommended as they can be very overpowering for a guinea pigs sensitive respiratory system.

You are far better sticking with an approved and recommended small animal shampoo.

@KentGarrett I have read several pieces written on your site and disagree with most of them. If your site is genuinely interested in promoting Guinea pig welfare you could do far worse than to read the useful guides on here and learn more about the proper care of these amazing creatures. If, however, it’s just there for you to generate commission fees from Amazon then please don’t bother us further.

Hi, I can vouch for Gorgeous Guineas, I know her well. She is also a rodentologist and has Guineas herself. Her products are specially for Guineas. I have used them myself for many Guineas from foot creams to shampoos and melts She also works closely with rescues and vets on sometimes some appalling cases.
