At the moment I have 4 guinea-pigs in 4 hutches (a few deaths a couple of weeks ago means they are all living alone) I have 3 boars that don't get on and a sow. I am getting the sow a friend in April. One of my boars, Billy, lives in a cage in the shed, and another guinea-pig, Barry, lives in a hutch in the shed. The sow, Spicy and my other boar, Roy live in seperate hutches outside. Spicy's hutch is above the run with a ramp that I can lower down when I want to let her out, but although she can use it because I've seen her she won't use it voluntarily to go down and whenever I put her in the run she goes back up. Billy lived in a hutch that was exactly the same as that in the summer and he went down more often and I just feel like Billy will get more exercise if I can put him in that hutch, seeing as Spicy doesn't seem to want it. I put Spicy in a seperate run for an hour a day (at the moment it's all I can manage because it's dark) and at weekends she goes out all day, weather depending. When I get the other guinea-pig to go with Spicy in April, I will put the sows back into Spicy's hutch because it is bigger than Billy's cage, but until then do you think I should put Spicy in Billy's cage in the shed and Billy in Spicy's hutch in the garden. The shed is unheated and has a few holes in it so there's no real temperature difference and the hutch has a cover anyway, I just don't know which would be best?

I hope that didn't confuse you too much :))

Edited to say, the title is meant to say Should I change where the guinea-pigs live or keep the same?

Sorry about that

My piggies are all indoor and although I alternate their toys and tunnels, I have never changed the cage positions (mainly due to space). Perhaps changing their locations would help them to be more inquisitive and interactive.
