Hello, we have a group of female guinea pigs, one being relatively new. She’s developed what appears to be an open wound on her nose and I am wondering if this is something that needs to be seen by the vet and how quickly (they don’t have appts today or tmrw). She seems relatively perky in herself but she’s still a junior and would love some advise.

I would be thinking along the lines of this potentially being ringworm. Yes she does need to see a vet for diagnosis (we cannot make a diagnosis) and to get the appropriate treatment (oral medication is best should she be diagnosed with ringworm).

You also need to exercise stringent hygiene for yourself and all items in the cage, and treat all other piggies she has been in contact with also - ringworm is highly contagious to all animals and humans.

I will add our guide below which details further so you know what to expect and to do should she be diagnosed with ringworm
