Does anyone know if skinny pigs have worse eyesight than furry piggies? Or maybe Jasmine just has poor eyesight. I’ve noticed that she startles easily, when other guinea pigs would see me coming. I’ll reach in the cage to give her a nose or chin rub which she loves and sometimes she doesn’t seem to see me until my hand is almost on her then she is startled and jumps, then realizes it’s me and comes back for the petting.

My abysinian Bernie is like this too, plus hes always running the wrong way for veg when Dot seems to be able to pinpoint it straight away. His eyes both look healthy, I guess he might not have an as good sense of smell.

I personally haven't noticed my skinnies being worse than the others x

Our skinny girl Tallulah has great eyesight, but I'm pretty sure my pink eyed lilac longer haired girl Blodwen is partially sighted, she cant see us coming and can't find her food right in front of her face unless it smells strong, and she often runs the opposite way to everypig else or runs straight into them! I think most piggies do ok with poor vision though as long as they have a friend to follow and you dont spook them or suddenly change the furniture x

Sounds exactly like Bernie to the T. He only knows where his veg is now by routine placement. But that's easy with 2 pigs

Blod is lucky that she's good pals now with Lady Piggle, of the stinky grease gland- Blod loves to follow Piggle with her nose up her bum to find out where I put the best hay! :)
Lol, it does make sense with the red eyes and bad eye sight. I know in rats they do not have as good eye sight with pink or red eyes. Red eye Rats do the head sway, it looks funny
