I wondered if anyone with adult skinny pigs could tell me what sort of weight they get to, and how quickly?
Tallulah-oolah-woolah isnt gaining much weight, she's 6 or 7 months old now and weighs 770g and she definitely hasnt lost any weight, but she's only gaining about 10-20g every couple of weeks overall. Are skinnies usually small? She's still a very small build but has a nice amount of heft on her bum and ribs, but she's not growing much.
I sometimes worry I'm not feeding her enough as she is always always a hungry hungry little hippo, but realistically she puts away far more food than anyone in my herd of adult pigs, and with living in the main living room with a clear view of when we open the fridge she gets a fair few extra snacks! And anytime she wheeks I top up the hay for her, or pop in a hay cookie or a handful of readigrass once or twice a week... she does a lot of hungry wheeking, she's very good at it :)

Here is lovely Tallulah-oolah-woolah having a coriander snack after today's weight check, and now she's eating a bowl of beansprouts and grain free pellets, and earlier on she had half a strawberry... all since breakfast!

I know they have a faster metabolism, would that affect growth?
Yes it would, also Tallulah-oolah-woolah is a bit crazy hyperactive! I suspect they are mostly a bit small, but I am hoping that some more experienced skinny pig people can tell me if this is true and if so how small is normal for a skinny lady pig? @Flutterby @YvonneBlue @HeatherRose ?

Both my skinny pigs are a smaller build than my haired piggies. Dora weighs around 970g occasionally 1kg but no matter how much I feed her she doesn't seem to gain more weight. Ginger is about 1.1kg. They also eat far more than my other piggies.

Its tricky as Tallulah has a furry husband with wonky legs so I dont want to supersize him as it would be bad for his special funny hip joints, and they really wont eat apart... furry silver fox handsome Ollie initially lost some weight when he met his interesting hyperactive naked hippo wife but now he's maintaining a steady 1100g, despite the occasional bonus blueberry or strawberry snack, I think being married to a young hyperactive skinny pig lady must be quite energetic and tiring! She likes to be chased, if he doesnt chase her enough she nips his bum until he sets off running then runs ahead of him squealing with delight... I think he enjoys the challenge mostly, he certainly popcorns a lot and they groom each other all the time, even though grooming Ollie's fur makes Tallulah's nose itch!

Jasmine is right around a year old and weighs about 850g. She is really small compared to my furry pigs. She has a nice pear shape and looks good.

That's the cutest story I've ever read
