After a long illness Pippin passed away this afternoon cuddled in bed with his momma Gilly who'd been on night shift.

You were a little strong man and you brought your mummys and your brother Merry many happy days and years.

Sleep well little man and be at peace. xxxxx

What sad news, Have fun at rainbow bridge sweet pippy.. So very sorry..

Thanks everyone for your care and supportive comments while Pip was ill. it meant a lot.

Pippin was Gill's first pet and she has taken it pretty hard but she has been golden and cuddling Merry loads while I've been at a conference this weekend.

I miss him horribly but I kno it was for the best and that it couldn't have been better than him being curled up with his favourite Mummy.

I worry about Merry being alone but i think he is too old for boar dating and he's on his own during the day even tho he gets loads of higs when we are in. I don't want to get him a younger companion only fot them to end up alone in the next year or so and have to find a friend all over again. Should I wait or get a new pair to live close by but not in with him for company?

Unless anyone has an older neuterd female for him to live with, closer to his age. I only worry cos they've been together since birth and he doesn't know to be alone.

i dont know the answer sorry, but i just wanted to say hope you are all bearing up ok, i know we never forget our little loved and lost furries, but it does get a little easier every day i promise you, keep your chin up x x>>

I don't really know what's best for Merry and have no experience with boys.

From our own personal experience, we had 2 sisters Pitch and Putt, they lived together from birth.
When we lost Pitch I too was worried about how Putt would cope without her friend and was considering piggie dating - However Putt has thrived on her own and is extremely happy, she has lost no weight and is active and bright. With her been an older sow we have decided that as she has adapted to life without little Pitch and gets lots of love off us both we are not getting a cagemate for her.
We have just adopted another 2 girls from Walsall RSPCA who will live seperate to her.

Keep a close eye on Merry (which i'm sure you will) and watch for weight loss lack of appetite etc... You sound like fantastic owners and I'm sure in time will know whats best for Merry.

Once again so sorry for your loss
