My indoor male guinea pig died tragically over the weekend. He was husboar to my 4 indoor girls Cali, Bling, Tribble and Tibby. Yorkie is the short haired pig on the far right of my avatar picture.

He was a beautiful boy who overcame losing his cage mate last winter and then a post op neutering infection early last year

Devastatingly and unexplainably he just collapsed and died while i was bathing him on Sunday, he was very healthy up to that point and i can only assume that he found the whole situation too stressful and went into shock and died.

i am struggling to forgive myself and totally blame myself as he would still have been alive now if i had chosen not to bath him on that particular day. he has always been a nervy guinea pig and has never been keen on being handled.

I am so sorry Yorkie and i miss you so much may you popcorm free with your buddy Fudge x

I'm so sorry for your loss.
I'm sure there must have been more to it than the bath.

RIP precious Yorkie. Run free little onex

Please don't blame yourself, I am sure that it had nothing to do with him being bathed. It was just his time.

Grief is hard enough as it is, but to give yourself a hard time over it will only make you feel worse. I know this is easier to say than to feel...
Please don't beat yourself up, it wasn't your fault.

Really sorry for your loss *massive hugs*

RIP Yorkie

Oh no. What an awful thing to have happened. I am so sorry to hear that. :(

Oh no you must feel terrible! Please dont blame yourself for this, i'm sure there was something else going on. It's so easy to feel it was your fault but he could quite easily have collapsed in his cage if you hadn't bathed him.

You must be in shock, big hugs to you and sleep tight Yorkie x

I am so sorry that you have lost your beautiful boy!

Please don't blame yourself - rather think of it as a ticking bomb. With a heart like that, sooner or later something would have set it off and there is nothing you can do; especially as in these cases you are not aware of the ticking bomb in the first place! :(

You haven't failed Yorkie - you have given him a very happy boar life with his friend and then with his girls.

aw how very sad, but please stop blaming yourself, there must have been other things going on, its just that he wanted to leave this world all nice and fluffy and smelling super after being bathed by his slave.

Rip Yorkie, sleep well fella.

Thinking of you, just remember him dont blame x

I'm so sorry to hear this, what an awful shock for you. I agree with the others, please don't blame yourself, it could have happened at any time.
RIP Yorkie sleep well x

Wiebke summed it up perfectly for me. Such a sad time, sleep well little guy and don't be hard on yourself JoBo.

So sorry you have lost your little man. It was his time to go, nothing to do with the bath...xx

So sorry to hear this. What a shock for you to have lost him so suddenly. Its always hard when a piggie is taken so quickly and without apparent reason.....Sleep well lovely Yorkie.....

So sorry to hear this. A friend of mine lost her rabbit last week with no prior signs of illness. You must be devastated but it was obviously his time to go.

Sleep tight little Yorkie.
