Buzz has been very poorly recently bless him he was on Septrin for pneumonia but it returned when the course finished and he is now on Zith-romax which seems to be working really well. The test will be what happens when this 2 week course ends. It has been a competed rollercoaster over the last few weeks, his condition is not helped by the fact that he is mycotic. Have had the help of a wonderful guinea pig health adviser and 2 fantastic vets and we are now seeing light at the end of the tunnel. He's such a fighter bless him, he is a remarkable little pig.

Anyway, last night he was worn out from all the eating he had done yesterday (after days of just picking and being syringe fed) and went to sleep on me for ages.

Thanks Girls and Glynis too, Buzz will be very happy he made you Kerplunk.

He's doing really well today, cannot recommend Zithro-max highly enough. Little wotsit is getting cheeky with his meds though now, grabs the barrel of the syringe with his teeth and tries to fling it out the way.

He's gaining weight again too, is now 866g which though still small is much much better.

Oh my goodness have i missed something?

Poor Buzz, bless his heart, healing vibes from me and the Mini Herd x

Wishing Buzz a good and full recovery! it is never easy when you are dealing with a piggy with a compromised immune system - it all takes much stronger meds, more time and there are always some uninvited guests! Buzz is having the best of care anyway! mallethead

No no I didn't do a health and illness thread just this one. He has had pneumonia for the last few weeks, first course of Septrin seemed to help but then it returned when the course finished and he is now on Zithro-max. He has been having diuretics and Bisolvon too. It has been very worrying and we thought we would lose him a few times but he is such a fighter and we are starting to feel more hopeful now, obviously things could change again but hopefully it won't return when the course of Zithro-max ends. Very impressed with the local vet who went with the Zithrom-max suggestion even though he has not used it in pigs before. He knows we help out at a monthly guinea pig welfare clinic at another vets so took our opinions on board which was great.

Thanks Wiebke.

Oh my, poor little fella, and poor you, my goodness, you are clearly working wonders and along with his fighting slowly getting there. All fingers and paws crossed her for a full recovery. Bless his little heart.

Did it start out as a URI? xx

I think it probably did but we are not sure, it came on very quickly, started sneezing and then his breathing got really loud. When he was xrayed there was so much fluid we couldn't see his heart.
