Junior Guinea Pig
As you may know, I have two wonderful boys in my life, who took me on-board as their slave in June 2015...
Gibson is my long-haired strawberry blonde fella. He loves a cuddle and will sit for ages, as long as you don't attempt to go near him with scissors for a hair trim..!
Higgins is my little short haired tri-colour terror. He loves to zoom around the kitchen and their home, he will chew anything, and he loves to snuggle up in his house and snooze. But he hates being picked up.
I've tried the tunnel/cuddle cup method; he just stopped going in them. I've tried gently trying to pick him up by sliding my hand under his belly; he just legs it! So recently, and over 18 months after first being adopted, after sitting in their run every evening to clean them out and replenish the hay, I've started stroking his head, down his back, and then resting my hand there, while I slide the other underneath to pick him up, and dare I say, it's working! The really daft thing is he jumps up quite happily onto my lap to get as close to the hay box as possible!
He loves a head scratch in his cage, he loves a cuddle when (if) you manage to pick him up, and he really loves a run around the kitchen (after I've picked him up to put him there).. Why can't he see that in order to have all the fun things, he needs to be picked up!
Needless to say I've avoided clipping his nails during lap time recently, I don't want to put him off just yet..!
Slow but steady.. I reckon by the two-year mark I could have it sussed!
Oh the life of a slave....
