i know a good fix but its not very nice, open a beer can with beer in it you can also cut it in half as long there is the scent of beer, snails and slugs love it so much you will **** find lots of them in the can rather than the hutchs and its not a hazzard to your piggies unlike baits xxxxx

my bunnies have free roam of garden.. and are sneaky as we now know.. hence 8 babies.. lol..
ill try doing it on a night when they are all safely locked up.. thanks xx
I'm off out now, hope you both have a good day/night x

I used slug pellets undwr and around outdoor hutches in the past. Now I have dogs and pellets would not be safe so I have beer trays stuffed under hutches where the dogs cannot reach:)

I usually sprinkle salt around the legs of the hutch but it has randomly stopped working now, so I will try the beer can thing, I'll take one of my dad's empty beer cans :))

Deanna xx

unfortunately i have just been forced to drink half a can of beer, so that i can try this tonight :))

It's such a hard life! Such trials we have to endure! lol:))

Hopefully it'll do the trick though! I hate slug/snail tracks over the cages!

I know! terrible it was.. of course id idnt want any! :))
I accidentally left the rabbits tunnels and tents out last night and the tracks all over them too!
Yack!!
I dont actually know why slugs and snails exist apart from make my life harder lol.. i hate having to kill anything! I'm a vegetarian.. but they are literally EVERYWHERE! its horrible! xx

Your best bet is to have a sharp gravel bed near the runs and hutches as snails and slugs do not like having to travel across the sharp stones and will not do so, alternatively put some salt down and boom lol

It the old fashioned scissor raid on a rainy day with me... I also have some flower pots on a bit of gravel where they like to hide - so it's a god place to catch them!

You could all call your local hedgehog rescue and see if they have some hedgehogs you can adopt. As long as you promise you will never use slug pellets or pesticides most will be happy to have new homes to release hedgehogs into.

You won't get a more natural way to control those slimey little pests and you'l be helping hedgehogs at the same time.

OMG! i wish del would let me! (my OH!)
i never knew that! i adore hodgehegs! :)) (i could never say hedgehogs when i was little :red )
Quite often see hedehogs round here.. wonder why there are so many slugs.. may have to try and sweatheart del.. x

urgh! lol x

Yes, but cutting them in half is actually more humane than drowning slowly or dying for ages from pellets. Of, course, I've got a special pair of old scissors.

Even though my girls are in our out building, we still have had problems with slugs :( I put salt down around the legs and also put a bit of piggie food in a dustpan on the floor in front of the hutch. They are only looking for food and I would prefer them to be on the dustpan rather than in the food bowl. I personally don't like slugs and think that they bother me more than they do the piggies :))
