Hello,
I am a new Piggie owner and have two rescue males brothers - they were about 5 months old when we got them - so that would put them at about 6 months now. They came from a loving home where the parents just didn't realise the work involved, so they are now with me lol. They were never handled much, so they are super ski-dish.

Anyways, this morning I noticed a small pink spot on Larry's nose (We named them Larry and Garry) -and just in front of the pink spot is a tuft of fur, that may have come from the pink spot, BUT that tuft of fur is hard to the touch. Almost like it got we with something besides water and dried crunchy.
I had to go to work so was only able to grab a quick photo, so its not the best. I apologise! Hopefully I can get it uploaded ok! (This is my first post)

*Note, I do see the odd "Boar Butt Dance" with the low grumble of dominance - but NOTHING has ever come of it. But now I'm not sure if Garry maybe nipped Larry on the nose?
It's just pink, no blood or anything.
I have been google searching and was reading about ring worm and fungal infections and mites... but they've only been inside animals?

Sorry if this is a newbie questions haha. Just want the best for the little "Weekers" :) Thanks in advance for any thoughts!

The pink spot could have come about by your boy getting rid of a spot of boar glue, aka dried semen, which is so the consistency of superglue and impossible.to shift. If so, it's not an injury just a case of boarly boars doing their thing!

Hi Posyrose!
THANK YOU for your post! I am SO new to all of this & of course as soon as I start to to google its showing fungus and ring worm that can spread like crazy and lead to seizures and I went in to panic mode haha. I should know better than to Google search as according to them I've had cancer and have died 15 times already LOL.
BUT it did lead me to this awesome group!

That makes sense actually as the brighter white spot in the photo is a clumped together bunch of fur that is hard to the touch. I almost put in my original post that it reminded me of the move "There's something about Mary" - but took it out thinking the joke wouldn't apply.... but it just might hahahaha.

Poor Larry if he got his brothers boar glue on his Face!

Makes me feel better about just monitoring him and not rushing him to an over priced vet visit like I was planning :)
Thank you!

Thanks for the welcome Merab's Slave!

I will for sure be keeping an eye on his nose! I try to watch for anything abnormal as it is, which is why I saw the small mark this morning (my husband even said "how did you even SEE that? lol) as it was not there last night.
I live up north, but thankfully have a great vet my bunnies already go to only a 30min drive away - but as they are considered "exotics" here they are more expensive to be seen here. They are also open 24/7 - which is great for emergencies, but again more expensive for after hours haha.

My original panic'ed self was already going to take them in after work today, but now I'm happy to monitor it for the next 12 to 24 hours to see.

SO happy I found this forum!

So Just an update:
Larry's nose is still a little pink, it looks the same size and the hard little clump of fur is now gone. I'm thinking Posyrose is right about it being Boar Glue. I have just recently upgraded them from the small cage they came in to a 2x5 Grid nick cube area with lots of new hides and things - so I'm sure they are having a bit of a re-dominance thing.
I'll keep an eye on him still though, even though he's acting fine! Actually I saw him do his first Popcorn this morning! It was AWESOME!

Hello and welcome to the forum
I think this looks a bit like “boar glue” too. My Ted had a lump on his nose the other week, it has only just gone and has left a little patch of missing fur were he has finally groomed it off. 😆 Boars are daft!E01FDD1C-9C1A-498F-A252-969CE715D6F9.jpeg

Omg hahaha yes that's a much better picture of what my boys looked like! Not as big of a "Blob" though haha. I imagine if feels like slowly ripping off a band-aid on a hairy part of your arm!
And I love that you named them Bill and Ted! Great movie :D
I'm just waiting for them to get a bit more social with me - which will help with better pictures lol - but as I know they were pretty much never handled before I got them I am going at their pace :)
