Hi, my guinea pig, Daisy, had a big cyst removed near her neck several months ago. There is still a bit of puss in the scar/wound. It is really smelly. What can I do to make it not smelly and heal better. She is 7 years old and doing really well.
Thanks
Debbie x

It sounds as if another trip to the vet is needed.
If there is pus and smell it’s possible an abscess is forming but we cannot make a diagnosis on the forum.

A vet can help you to deal with the wound and treat as needed.

7 is a great age - she’s obviously well loved and cared for.
It would be lovely to see pictures.

Hi!
Please see a vet. It sounds like an abscess, which should never be taken lightly. Burst abscesses have a very strong and distinctive smell which you can never mistake for anything else once you have come across one.

She will need an antibiotic to help clear it as well as daily flushing and getting as much pus out for as long as possible to allow the abscess to heal from the inside out. Every little speck of infection that is left in one of the pouches can restart the abscess and make it come back worse than ever.

Hi. My poor little girl died this evening. I am absolutely heartbroken, I can't stop crying 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
