Junior Guinea Pig
Our beloved Smudge has sadly passed over the rainbow bridge. We provided temporary fostering for Smudge back in June for a local Guinea Pig Sanctuary. When Smudge came to us she was very depressed due to the passing of her previous cage mates. She was underweight and unsteady on her legs due to arthritis.
Seeing her outside in a hutch on her own broke our hearts so we decided to adopt Smudge and introduce her to our herd. The introduction process went well, and Smudge was soon loving life with her new found cage mates. Her weight returned to normal levels and in turn she became much stronger and more mobile on her legs
Unfortunately, as time went on, her Arthritis became progressively worse to the point where she couldn’t move around unaided and in pain. Her cage mates provided support for her during this time by snuggling up next to her. We eventually had to make the hard decision for her to go across the rainbow bridge.
Although we only had Smudge since June, she really captured our hearts. We knew we wouldn’t have her for too long as she was an elderly piggy but it was a joy to see her true personality come out during her time with us.
Smudge was a super friendly little girl who loved human interaction. She liked to sprawl out on our laps and watch TV with us (especially when presented with a carrot to much on at the time)! When not snuggling, Smudge was a very curious piggy that loved to explore everything and anything.
Rest in peace little Smudgie, we love and miss you very much.
All our love,
Mummy and Daddy
