What does everyone think is the best guinea pig food.
Pellets/ Museli?
Which brand do you and your pigs favour?

Pellets are better as they are a complete food. In the mixes there is a lot of colourings and junk. I use Burgess Excell and my gang love it.

Burgress excell food pellets :3 they are a great company!

I like to use nuggets, sometimes harringtons but I mainly use the burgess excel nuggets.
My piggies do like muesli though, they all polish the bowl clean.
I am fortunate not to have fussy piggies. ")

Mine have muesli.

It is more natural for them and I won't fill up their bowl until there is very little left so they don't get a chance to selective feed.

It is also cheaper for me, which is a bonus! :)

I feed a mix of decent pellet brands and vary.

It's a bit like bread or your breakfast cereals - the piggies enjoy the different tastes (so I keep the muesli factor ;) ) and they don't become fixated on just one brand; which has been a real problem in the past whenever it was not available.

I feel more comfortable feeding pellets as I know that the piggies will not eat all of the museli type foods. I currently have science selective, but they like excel more, so i will switch back to that once i am near the end of this bag. Excel smells lush :))

I feed Wagg Guinea crunch, have done for the last 4 and a half years, using Supreme Gerty Guinea pig before that or pets at home own brand.

much prefer the Wagg over the Supreme as there are less colours added (and the colours in Wagg are natural rather than synthetic) piggies didn't much care for the P@H stuff.

Wagg is also made not too far away from here and i order it from Vet UK, which is based in the same town as Wagg, so it's not being shipped half way across the country to get to me either :)

i was contemplating that when my herd reduces, i'd switch to a pellet food, but i'm not sure i'll bother as they really enjoy the muesli.

Like others, i don't give them the option of selective feeding. I'm quite a mean mummy - they either eat what is in their bowl or they can go eat hay!
no fresh food until the bowl is empty ;)

i do the same with my rabbits (on wagg bunny brunch) as well

I used to feed mine Gerty Guinea Pig but they was picking out stuff they wanted so selective feeds and not getting all the vitamins they need!
Ive moved mine onto Excel blackcurrant and oregano nuggets and they love them, my other two that are fuss are on Oxbow cavy cuisine :)

Years ago I used to always feed our Piggys Gertie guinea but I learnt that it's cheap for a reason plus there was so much waste.

Then I moved onto Burgess food-I used the Muesli one but again found there was some waste because they were selecting what they like best. Now they have Burgess nuggets with mint and they love them! Plus there's no waste :)

Mine have muesli and nuggets. They have a bowl of wagg guinea pig crunch and a bowl of nuggets varying between excel, science selective and pets at home.

This has to last all four of them.
