hi people

iv noticed tonight that davids poo is runny like if you pick it up it just collapses in your fingers. iv just been in and noticed theres some poos that have no shape either i dunno if they av been stood on but they just look like a squidgy mess.

he did hvae something similar a few week ago and i put it down to sweetcorn as he hadnt had it for a bit. however he hasnt had anything different tonight than what he normally has veg wise.

hes still acting normal as he does nothing different tha tiv noticed other than the poo.

can anyone give me any advice ?

I would just give him hay and nuggets (no veg) until the poops go back to normal. Hopefully he's just been a bit greedy. :)

thanks flips i was starting to get meself worried.

iv had such a horrible day today i just dont want anything wrong to happen with the pigs thanks again ill top his hay up and keep my eye out. fingers crossed he has just been a greedy little piggy x

I've a pig who has had soft poops/diarrhoea since Monday, she's had no veggies since & been to the vets (just to make sure it wasn't an infection). She too is perfectly happy in herself & besides nuggets & hay is having probiotic & "poop soup" to help restore the gut flora :)

iv got some probiotic c from pets at home should i give him some of that tomorrow if he still is having a runny poo.

do you syringe them that? xx

i would give probiotic, and i would put it in water if they drink or syringe if they dont. Hope you have a better day tomorrow x

Fibreplex contains a probioitic and fibre It's good for restoring gut flora and firming up runny poos if given for a couple of days. You can get it at the usual on-line piggie pharmacies.......

i thought it's norm for piggies to produce soft droppings. It's the running diarrhoea you need to keep an eye on.

Piggy poo is normally quite dry and solid - if it's soft or misshapen it's not normal, in a healthy pig it is usually caused by too much veg. An adult's veg is 50g per day - any veggie treats come out of that total, not in addition to it.
