One of my pigs Melody is having very soft poop with liquid mixed in, the colour of it is normal and she's acting normal in herself, still eating and drinking, she's a little gassy but her stomach is still soft, can't feel any lumps/blockages. This is 100% a result of eating too much veg, she tends to eat too much. I'm withholding all veg and giving fibreplex 1ml x3 daily and syringing water, she is only eating hay now, however the problem with this is that the last box of Oxbow timothy hay I got is terrible quality, it's all brown/yellow, musty and making my house smell like a barnyard, the piggies are not eating it, but I paid £71 for it and it's a 50lb box, I don't know what to do, they won't take it back or send out a new one as it has been opened and partly used, ugh, so much money wasted. I also have Harriet who just went through a spay surgery and needs to eat and gain weight, she doesn't like it either! :(

It can be that the musty hay contributes to the poo problem, especially with a very sensitive piggy. Can you get some nicer hay locally? otherwise, you are doing all the right things.

Sorry to hear about your hay problem, but it's probably best to just chalk it up to experience and get some different hay. You are doing all the right things regarding Melody's soft poop. If it still doesn't clear up then see a vet for further investigations.

Yeah I did think this was a bit strange, none of the pigs have had diarrhoea before and it's only Melody atm with this problem, hay is so important and I'm really disappointed the last box is this terrible, it looks like really old hay or off cuts, it's more like straw than hay, no seed heads or anything in it either, normally this hay is good but this one just isn't, it smells like cheese or sweaty feet, when the piggies pee on it it smells so horrible, honestly like a stable yard!

Looks like I will have to search around and try to find some good hay, what should I do with this box I have, keep it for emergencies or just throw it away? May as well just have burned £70 cash lol!
