Soft Poos And Matted Hair

I've just lost one piggy this afternoon and now think there's something wrong with another one....

Last night I noticed they one of the others had matted hair around their bum, so gave them a bath to clean them up. I've now noticed that the hair is matted again and soft poos. What might that be? Should I be worried?

Newly bereaved guinea pigs can have a lowered immune system due to the stress of losing a friend or they can have been infected depending on the nature of their friend's death, so it pays to be extra vigilant. It may be worth having him seen and checked by a vet. it could be the beginnings of a UTI if the bum is very wet.

Please take any piggy with soft poos off fresh food and wait 24, better 48 hours until they have firmed up again. if there is a deterioration and you are confronted with outright diarrhea, you need to see a vet as an emergency.
