someone explain to me

my guinea pig's behavior! so i had to seperate george because they were fighting, so i put a devidor in the cage so they can be next to eachother. well when he's in the sectioned off spot the other two will sit as close to him as they can get through the bars, but when he is free to roam they're at eachother's throats! why are they so happy to be next to him when he's seperated? doesnt make sense to me :{

When the divider is down, they each have there own space. In there owns space they have a heirarchy, and know whos boss. When they are all together, they have to reestablish who is boss, and they dont know how to play nice!

Heres a relevant(ish) anaolgy. If you were house shopping, then you saw a house you lovedddd, and someone else wanted it too, you would instantly dislike them, because they were trying to take what you wanted. However If you and this other person wernt both competing for the house, you might be very good friends.
