This is my piggie's, Harris', eye. It's so bad, poor thing. We have an appointment with the vet in the morning. He had a week's eye drops up to last Sunday but at that time his eye was nowhere near as bad as this, just a bit red. I took him to the vet originally because he was very quiet and off his food and the vet put it down to an eye infection. He started eating again and has been more lively but this eye has just got worse and worse! I can't believe how bad it is.

Wondered if anyone had experienced similar.

Thank you, Lizzy

That looks very sore and also rather dehydrated. I hope that you can save it!

It looks so dry. I have heard that guinea pigs cope fine with one eye. Not that I want him to lose it though!

Can you get to a pharmacy and get some visco tears for her? Just say it is for your OH. Give them 6 times a day of possible (you have to wait half an hour after the antibiotic drops).

My Nosgan is on visco tears of the rest of life; his eye was even more dehydrated and he'd bashed it in rather badly when running blindly into a grid in a panic, but it was not as bloody. It has been quite a toss up at first, but we have managed to save his eye although the surface has sustained permanent damage.

Please always see your vet if an eye on treatment is not showing signs of getting better after 2-3 days and see him asap if an eye on treatment is deteriorating. it can make all the difference.

A guinea pig can happily live with one eye. Just try not approach him from his blind side; they don't like that.

Thank you. Can't get any eye drops now. Will have to wait until the morning and see what the vet says.
