hello , i noticed small scabs in the corner of one off my boys (lester)mouth tonight , first thought i thought it was food but looking closer it looks like Cheilitis . but cant be sure until i take him to the vet .
lester seems more than happy and has a balanced diet off veg hay and dry food , he has had a lot off apple lately .
so what has caused this , read something about lack of vitamins , poor hay
any feedback on this would be great as vets don't always have all the answers and a good balance off info and experience would help
thanks mat

If it's a browny yellow colour it could be Cheilitis, but if it's just a scab like we would get when we cut ourselves that's fine just keep an eye on it in case of infection, My eldest Guinea Holly has a scab on her nose from having fun ripping up her new wooden house! If it is Cheilitis then apart from taking her to the vets you can buy Vitamin C supplements and should give her approx 25mgs a day and this should help her but you do need antibiotics from the vet as this is a fungal infection.

Acid fruit or tomatoes can cause sores on lips and mouth, so be careful not to overfeed them. Good that you are having the problem checked by a vet; he can tell better what it is!

Peppers of any colour, broccoli or parsley are veg high in vitamin C.

vet has put lester on probiotic & antibiotics , he has been on it for 5 days now , a slight improvement but early days , but i have also been putting flax-seed oil on the sore parts , he absolutely loves it , you have to be so careful on a apply it , other wise he will take your finger off lol , he bit my girlfriend when we 1st applied it and snatched the capsule , he just goes completely mad when he it ( in a good way ) has anybody else tried flax-seed oil . p.s watch your fingers
