Tuesday along with getting a hay poke eye checked, my jiggle pig Sugar had a skin scrape test done on a spot on her nose to rule out ringworm.

It looks a little red and sore. Her fur is white on that spot so it really stands out.

I have chlorhexadine solution for wound cleaning and silver sulfa cream.

Any opinions on if it would do more harm than good to clean it and apply some of the cream? I first plan to blot it with a paper towel later when I do her eye ointment to see if it's juicy.

Of course I could always ask the vet if she calls tonight with the test results.

Don't put anything on it without speaking to the vet first. It may well be ringworm you are dealing with, I would wait for the results and what treatment the vet prescribes

That does look sore. Hopefully it will have been worth it and you get an easy and treatable diagnosis.
I believe you sometimes have to ring the vet yourself for test results and then the receptionist tells you there and then or have the vet call you back. If you’re waiting for them to ring you, perhaps that’s why you haven’t heard anything?

I've always had to ring for results. Why don't you give them a quick call?
Good idea...I gave a call and they told me 3-5 business days. The Dr had said 1 day. She also said it cost "around $100" and it was $138. I feel bad for the employees because sometimes the Dr should stick to what she's good at 😂

The tech did say they have to pull out some fur for the sample and that's probably why it looks kind of alarming...

Annnnd as I was typing this they called back and said I should leave it alone and it'll heal fine. Whew!

Haha...I mentioned the bad price quote and laughed it off. To me "around" would be no more than $5-$10 difference. Stinkers!
