Phoned the Cat and Rabbit clinic and Lightning's spay is going ahead tomorrow, so we'll be travelling up. (Pets are left at front door, so no person to person contact, just have to hope motorway police don't stop us on the way! :lose:)
I have plenty syringes, old meds from December, nuggets for syringe feeding etc. Should I be thinking of anything else? And if she seems fine, as she was after her lump removal op, I assume if post op checkup isn't available that'd be ok?
Thanks.

It should be OK. Just contact them if something is not OK post-op and if necessary see a local vet.

You are travelling for a necessary medical procedure. ;)

In my experience with sows spayed at the C&R they feel somewhat rough for the first couple of days. Hapus was provided with painkiller and gut stimulant.

The new operation technique means no antibiotics needed but it can lead to a fluid build up around the scar some days into the bargain; this is harmless and should disperse on its own again. The scar is feeling harder than it used to.

Ah ok it's great to know what to possibly expect thanks. Hope Hapus is ok now. Glad I'm working from home at the moment for the post op care.

Thank you so much x

Well, crazy day in Northampton trying to find a loo after Tesco shut midday and getting supervised in the park by 3 police officers ... but Lightning has come out her op well.. Got home and noticed Shadow's eye was gummy shut and so went straight back out to local emergency vet. If anyone knows of a wine replacement for people who don't drink then I'm all ears

Can anyone advise how to give wriggly Lightning her meds, the usual ways would involve putting pressure on her wound I'm thinking ..?

Glad the op went well.
I find a really strong, good quality black coffee an excellent substitute for alcohol.
Would wrapping her in a towel work?
That’s what I usually do for meds but if Lightening is too wriggly it’s may not work.
Hope Shadow’s eye is ok and Lightening recovers quickly

I wouldn't have thought of strong coffee but will certainly try that! Thanks, might need to try a towel, worried I damage her. Lightning has eaten her veg plate, so it's just my care skills which could be the weak link!

Wrap her in a towel and place her across your tummy for support x
Hope Shadow makes a full recovery x and Lightning too!

So glad she came through the op and she’s doing well :D Naughty wriggly lady, hope you could get her to take the meds, I’d say the same as @Bill & Ted with a towel etc.
Poor you, bet it was a nightmare waiting around, I spent the day between the park, a cafe and McDonald’s with long day for Jess’s eye out but bet you were struggling for places that are open! Hope not too much of a nightmare. Poor little Shadow too, hope they both heal really well xx

Ah you've also done the long operation wait hanging around! I put Lightning in her circus tent last night on my knee and then realised I didn't want to tip her out as usual so I had to cut her out as she was digging her heels in. Wondering about giving meds in the cage now. Anyway, thanks for your good wishes, they're wandering about eating hay so that's a huge relief so far.

Yes as I get the train over and seems easier to stay! Twice with Jess :doh:The last place had a library next door so I plonked myself in there! But that would’ve been shut anyway! Good when you need the loo though! :))
So glad they’re both doing well :) It’s so hard when it’s a big wound and you don’t want to hurt them, when Jess has her mammary gland cyst and nipple removed it was a huge scar and she was horrendous with not sitting still! Hope you can find a way to give them to her without too much trouble for you both! xx

What a relief I’m so happy she is safe and well! Sending all my love for a fast recovery. 💕

yes me too and then a 300 mile drive home. once with Bill and 9nce with Ted. It’s worse in winter. We had a lovely time visiting Debbie and the piggies at Teas last time. So glad Lightening‘s doing alright and makes a speedy recovery x

Lightning's making an occasional chutting noise. She's not making it when she's asleep so I assume not URI?
