My piggie Patches has recently started squeaking when going for a pee. She has been to the vet before because I noticed blood in her urine. The vets didn't find any bladder stones or anything but they suspected it might've been a urine infection so she got baytrol to treat that, and it cleared up. But now as I said she's started squeaking when going to the toilet. Could this be a sign of bladder stones? She eats and drinks normally. She's still active and enjoys play time on the floor every night. She still likes to give me kisses Her diet hasn't changed, she's still getting plenty of veggies in the morning, she gets Harrington pellets and pillow wad meadow hay. She still interacts with Bitzy (her sister) She cleans her and follows her as she's a bit of a shy piggie. So her appetite or personality hasn't really changed.

She also has quite scurfy skin which I have treated with beaphar anti- mange spray. I've also used gorgeous guineas shampoo. But nothing has really helped clear it up (all of this was recommend by the vet) she also is not very keen on me touching her hair on her bottom so maybe it's a fungal infection? also my other piggie hasn't got any of these problems it just seems to be little Patches

Thanks in advance!

I would take her to the vet for a further examination and check up. It sounds as though she may have a urinary tract infection or cystitis that may need treatment.
With regard to the hair and skin, again these need to be checked and diagnosed by the vet to get the correct treatment.
Please let us know how she gets on at the vets.

Thank you. I'll try and get her to the vets asap. What kind of treatment is given for the UTI? Is it oral medicine? Thank you!

Yes, it's usually an antibiotic either already in liquid form, or in tablet form that you crush up and dissolve in a few drops of water and then administer orally via syringe.

Thank you. I've told my mum and I'm going to get a vet appointment maybe next week:) thank you! Really helped Patches and I<3

When you see the vet it might be worth asking for an X-Ray if you have concern about possibility of bladder stones, as when one of my previous piggies had a bladder stone it was discovered and diagnosed only when they did the X-Ray, not in the physical examination.

So if Patches hasn't had one already, it may well be worth requesting an X-Ray just to rule it out, as my experience with bladder stones was that the faster the diagnosis is made the better.

Whatever the vet finds is causing your piggie problems, i really hope that they manage to heal her quickly and that Patches is soon following Bitzy around again at home like her usual self, with no more nasty symptoms.

Get well soon Patches

Thank you, I'll make sure to ask for one. I'm hoping she'll get better quick! X

I hope she gets better quickly too, its so worrying when they're not well isn't it.

Awww, hope she gets better soon! Flaky dry skin sounds more fungal than parasitic I think :) The treatment for fungal is usually a shampoo or dip like Imaverol or Nizoral! Definitely get her checked out though -recurring utis could be indicative of bladder sludge or stones.
Does she leave a dry white residue where she has peed (other than the normal cloudiness to their wee)? If so it may be worth reducing calcium in her diet, and any EC permitted chemical colourants for her food, too.
Good luck, hope she improves
