Spending some quality time on the sofa with my boys this evening and Angus is squeaking when he pees again and much more than before :(

I feel another vet trip coming on.... Given him some metcam this evening and he's on cystease twice daily anyway but we might just have another infection on our hands.

It's so frustrating as mostly he isn't infected, just sore sometimes and I don't want to be giving him metacam all the time. His last scan showed no bladder stone or tumour but that doesn't mean there isn't one there now. He is so much less affectionate when he's not feeling right as well as harassing Hamish a lot. :(

You have my sympathies. Currently battling with Jerry's bladder issues too :(
It's just so frustrating isn't it? Nothing ever seems to quite sort it out and we don't want to use Metacam too regularly. MIght print off the info about interstitial cystitis for the vet as they usually just treat as a UTI when often I am pretty sure there's no infection present, just inflammation.

Oh well at least we are in good company....

I'm havein problems with my 2year old girl , they found out thro a scan that the walls of her bladder have a build up of calcium, so we are tryin a very low calcium diet and its not workin, ive just sent of for some probiotic to see if that will help as i dont want her have any more baytrill or metcam she still sqweekin when she goes toilet but no more blood for over a week now

Taking Jerry to the vet tomorrow. The increased Metacam and Cystophan dose hasn't help and I just can't get this recent bout of pink/squeaky wees under control. Hoping it's just an infection, or a particularly stubborn flare up of cystitis, and nothing more sinister :(

:( love to Jerry. It's a particularly frustrating problem. Not entirely unsure it's not also stress related like in cats.... Angus has improved (and generally much calmer) since Hercules came home to live with Struan so not sure if the group dynamics etc play a part....

Sounds like a UTI, good luck to your little buddy

Hope your little man feels better real soon the girls send hugs x

I hope that your poorly boy will feel better soon! It can be so frustrating, can't it? :(

We took Winnie to a specialist and he suggested a different course of antibiotics as the Baytril wasn't working. Could you suggest a change in medication? He also suggested increased vitamin C in her diet by adding a supplement, encouraged more exercise to encourage water intake too. I know every guinea is different but she hasn't been squeaking since her new treatment. Hope this helps.

Hi my vet put shona on septrin last night the calciun level in her water is breakin down and comein away i also sent of for some probiotic and showd her she read and said yes its ok there was no blood in her wee but she had put some on spin what every that means she checked out the cavy cusine that connie told me about and yes its on so its no calcium or minimum and keep
an eye on protine and the septrin is 1mill per day dont know if that will be
any help

Septrin tends to be a very good antibiotic for piggies - I have had better results with it than baytrill ,it also helps that it tastes of bananas where baytrill tastes revolting - mine with even steal a syringe of it from another guinea pigs mouth and run off with it.

Ha ha this 1 loves metcam so that goes in the shringe last so she get it first and she holds onto it and we have had a sqweek free day today so I'm hopein we,ve turned the mile stone at last and shes drinkin this probiotic stuff like its goin out of fashion
