I'm pulling my hair out almost with this one as I don't know what to do! I'm moving into a smaller apartment which has a bigger bedroom where my cages are currently at. Due to having to seperate my herd into 3 pairs of sows, this has meant I have had to have 3 4x2 cages. My pigs have always been kept in my bedroom as I always am in there and I have autism etc and I live in supported living so they are my main company and help me with my mental health. I am not able to fit 3 4x2 cages into my bedroom unless I am able to do a stacked version but ive read so many horror stories about them bowing and collapsing on pigs! So I'm wondering how bad stacked cages really are? If I cant do a stacked c&c then they will have to have their own room! While this sounds fun I dont know how they will cope!

Not the same as stacked but my boys have 2 levels. There was a little bit of sagging which was sorted by putting dowling rods under the top level. The biggest issue I found was access to the whole cage. I had door grids but found them somewhat awkward. After searching for half height grids which didn't seem available in the UK, my hubby cut down some spare ones and covered the top with file binders.

Stacked C&C cages are very stable as long as they are cable tied. I've cable tied in each grid corner and in the middle. I have used metal curtain poles through the middle as an extra support. Mine would have been even more solid if I'd used the connectors as well, but the connectors make the cage a fraction bigger which mean my cages wouldn't fit in the very tight space. The Pig Room on youtube did a video on how he built his stacked cages. I'm sure other youtubers have as well.

Mine is a 4x3, 4x2 would be more stable. You do need to have the grids round the front on the corners. I can manage to clean the bottom cage kneeling on the floor and leaning into the gap. For deep clean days when I have to scrub at the back I can open the front as I used ratchet clips to make the middle join. You can just see a curtain pole in the second picture, I attached them to the top grids by winding Duck Tape round a few times. I put top grids across the frame and a floor in the cage for more stability, the floor in the cage means it can just sit on top of the frame and be lifted off by two people if necessary.
Hope this all makes sense.

So who do have living on each level it looks great 💐

At the moment Fizz and Fuzz are on top and Brillo is at the bottom with a runway across the room to Duck and Bertie. When the photos were taken it was Brillo and Red at the top and F&F at the bottom. We sadly lost Red in August.

Thankyou so much for your response it's a relief to know that they are actually stable when cable tied correctly! I honestly was anxious to a point I was worried Id be putting my pigs in danger! This would work great and means I can keep them in my room, I know the bottom is going to be a nightmare to clean out but its only one cage so to be honest I don't mind that at all. I do have some support bars I can buy so that wouldnt be a problem at all.

I had c and c cages on top of ikea tables. You could have 2 table top set ups and one on the floor underneath them.
