Specialist Steatitis In Guinea Pigs

Thank you everyone for your kind comments. I've said goodbye to her now, she has just been cremated and I am bringing her home this afternoon. The girls are understandably very upset and jumpy, I'll have them in tonight for extra cuddles (I need them too!). Its so tough when they leave us far too soon like this. I will post something about her in memory later this week when it wont reduce me to tears again...its a long time since one has hit me this hard sadly.

BIG HUGS

I am sorry for your loss, but glad that she was not in pain when she left for the Rainbow Bridge. You and your vet clinic have done their best to help her with something that is a new illness for guinea pigs and very much terra incognita. :(

Please try to take consolation in that there is nothing more you could have done and that she was blessed to have such a caring and determined owner!

Sorry for your sad loss.

How touching that her friends were on either sidenof her when she died.

Thank you Flowerfairy, the vet was convinced they knew because when she left them the two girls would not leave her side despite the piles of food. She said it was uncanny how they suddenly snuggled close up to her either side and ten minutes later she was gone. She was very touched by what she saw. In some respects I take great solace from this. What loving little creatures they are.

Thank you Wiebke, such kind words. She deserved everything I could do for her. She was a great friend and companion so it was all I could do for her. I just wish we could save them all. X

So sorry for the loss of your little girl. Massive hugs to you and your other 2 girls x

We’ve had a lot of group hugs tonight. The girls were very quiet and jumpy but many cuddles later and we’re all feeling a touch better. X
