Hi there ,,

Last night one off our guinea pigs went very still & unresponsive , we brought it inn sat with it for half hour , was still breathing but just lying there lifless , wee cuddled it up in a blanket and thought this morning we would get up to a dead pig , but no it was as happy as larry jumping about feeding pooing peeing , and as been great since ? Any clues

That is bizarre, I would say you need to get to vet asap, you can never be too careful as guineas hide their illness being prey animals.

what you described was how my two boys went but they didn't "wake up" like yours has! I've never heard of this before

Firstly I would definitely get it checked out. As Briony_Y says pigs hide illnesses very well.
It's difficult really, was there any other symptoms? Was the pigs breathing normal- any laboured/noisy/fast breathing?
Could it have been that they were in a deep sleep? Some conditions some as heart disease can be realised with very deep ,sound sleeping in which the pig is difficult to rouse from their sleep. Bear in mind that pigs do also sleep with their eyes open at times. My heart pig, Esme used to sleep quite soundly when she had a bad episode.
If it is a heart problem, there are treatments available and pigs can go on to lead fairly normal lives.
 
It was very strange ,at the time we phoned round all the vets but they were shut and the reason we never went for emergency was we totally thought it was too late ,, been checking him all day and he's absoulty fine , we would actually have never known anything was up but hubby just went out into the garage to get something a noticed him , it's possibly happened before we've just not noticed , the have a huge run in the garage ! Will phone the vets on Monday unless he need befor hand , but he's eating drinking running around squeaking , pooping peeing ! ?

It may be that he was just in a deep sleep, but best to get it checked out.
To be honest it took us a while until we noticed Esme was poorly. It was only because she didn't come running out for her daily grass that I knew anything was wrong. As well as this she had laboured breathing, where her sides would heave in and out. When she was having a bad breathing episode, you could pick her up whilst she was sleeping and it would take her a while to come round. She would run up and down the living room like a completely healthy piggy.

How old is he? I would see how he is tomorrow, and providing he is still acting normal book a vets appointment for Monday. If it was a heart problem it can sometimes be diagnosed by conscious X-Ray, even if the heart sounds normal by stephoscope.
 
Two past on xmas day ,, never had guinea pigs before had these two two years ( just about ) and never had any problems ,, he only thing a mybee coukd say ,, know how they poo all the time well since wee brought him there was no poos but in the morning there was a a good few but a few off them was like two joined together if that makes any sence ,, thanks again for all the help x x
 
Thats good he's eating fibre, I would make sure you keep an eye on his eating and pooing and make sure he is drinking.

Other than that some probiotic may help (pets at home have it) but he does need a vet asap
