Hi I have one piggie atm and his name is twix. The last day or so he has stopped eating and drinking. It almost looks painful when he does. I check his teeth monthly to make sure they aren't over grown and he has wood to chew. He had eye crusties which I think would be from the dehydration, he's drinking out of a dish now but drinks if I squeeze water in his mouth from his bottle. I'm calling my vet tomorrow for sure. If he hasn't eaten by morning I'm going to mash his food before I head to school. I've had problems with respiratory infections in the past with piggies and since I've started using menthol rx on a veggie here or there or dot it under their nose I've had no problems. His cage was not cleaned on time like normal so I've been on too of the RX incase the ammonia got to him.

I am in the same boat with being so busy with school lol. Best I can suggest is keeping him comfortable, and maybe mixing pellets with warm water to kinda get a warm soup, that way he'll get some nutrients in.

You should probably start syringe feeding him some critical care or mushed pellets through a syringe, just to keep his guts moving. Here is a guide:Complete Syringe Feeding Guide making sure he is still eating is very important. But I would definitely bring him to a vet as soon as you are able. Hope all goes well!

Good you’ve got him in for an appointment. I would start syringe reeding while you’re waiting for the appointment. If you don’t have anything then you can mush pellets and feed him that.

Please stop using the menthol, especially under the nose. Piggies sense of smell is very strong and anything too aromatic isn’t good for them. Did the vet suggest you did that?

:agr:

A piggy who has stopped eating needs help. You need to start syringe feeding him to keep his guts going.
Please stop using the menthol. No strong smelling products should be put anywhere near guinea pigs. Any potential respiratory issue needs medication not a home treatment
