Hello kind stranger,
I recently discovered a piece of dry skin hanging off my girl's foot, it was thin and revealed flesh underneath that seemed pretty normal and moist.

On further inspection, I noticed these peeling spots closer to her hair at the sides of her foot. I've been pouring over rescue videos, but I just can't figure out if it's fungus or spurs or drying skin. I've been meaning to rub in some coconut oil to rule out dry skin but any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Here's the picture

Welcome to the forum!
I can't see the pictures. Maybe you could try to upload them directly onto the forum.
But if you suspect a fungal infection, it would be best to see a vet with guinea pig experience.

Hello and welcome to the forum. They look like foot spurs to me which are totally harmless and they should only be attended to if they grow long and affect the ability to walk / get caught? It’s basically just hard skin but if you suspect a fungal problem, it’s best to consult with a vet x

Thank you for the quick response. Here are the pictures (I'm sorry it didn't load properly on my post) ! I'm really wondering what to get right now, like coconut oil or athlete's foot cream to rule things out.

Please do not use coconut oil or athletes foot cream, we would never recommend you cream or treat on spec as you can do much more harm than good.
You can actually wipe the scene of evidence a vet needs to make a diagnosis and thus end up getting the wrong diagnosis.
By creaming without diagnosis and cause you can soften the skin too much and thus increase the risk of further problems such as bacteria getting into softened skin and causing bumblefoot

They look like they might be foot spurs to me but you should see your vet for a diagnosis anyway.
Foot spurs are harmless and are best left alone. If they were to get big and get caught on bedding then the vet would be needed to deal with them due to the amount they can bleed.

Thank you for keeping it real with me! I did find myself getting a bit DIY with things because of all the differing information online on the severity of the issue (like it being foot spurs and I'm just overreacting tremendously). But I do understand now that I could be making things hard if a vet visit is truly required. I'll be monitoring the situation closely and contacting a vet for advice soon if fungus is truly a suspect. I'll be reading up carefully on the signs.
