As it’s so cold at the minute, I am using snugglesafes in my indoor cage. It’s a really stupid question and something else that’s causing me anxiety but can a guinea pig lift and burrow underneath a snugglesafe? It’s just my covers aren’t velcro underneath, the snugglesafe just kind of slots inside the cover and I’d hate for Elizabeth or Esme to lift the snugglesafe and burn themselves from burrowing underneath it 😞

I’ve got covers that don’t Velcro and my boys have never moved a snugglesafe. They will be fine.

I normally use these every winter and I've never had any of mine try that, I don't think they would fit into the gap between the fleece and plastic anyway, as long as they are facing down they probably won't be too interested in flipping it or burrowing into it as long as they have plenty of other cosy places to sleep and hide x

My covers are very similar - they don’t Velcro underneath. They have never even attempted to try to get under one.

I think the Snugglesafes are too heavy for them to lift with their noses. I can't think of any other way that piggies could lift them. The snugglesafes I have I put under fleece tunnels and my piggies can choose whether to go in the fleece tunnels or not. Usually they go on top of the tunnels anyway. I know this as there is lots of poop on the squashed tunnels.

PS There is no such thing as a stupid question. You're probably not the only one to think this but are the only one brave enough to ask!

Alongside what everyone else has said, I hope you will find comfort in the fact that your girls will move away if uncomfortable, so if one day they possess superhuman strength and manage to get under the heat pad, they would move/stay away from it due to the heat.

Unless they were medically incapacitated, they thankfully have the brains to keep themselves safe and comfortable.

Thank you. I’m glad they’ll move away if they are uncomfortable

I feel a bit silly now lol x

Don't feel silly for asking a question! I struggle with anxiety and what you asked was a very valid question considering the heat pads are quite hot when uncovered. Better to be safe than sorry, you know this forum is a safe space to ask any questions you may have!
