Junior Guinea Pig
So, I'd posted here before regarding one of my guinea pigs, Calvin and Hobbes, who had died (Hobbes). I debated for a while on whether to keep Calvin or give him up to a rescue, When Hobbes' death was still very recent, I didn't feel emotionally like I could keep caring for him...but now I've recovered from that and have been doing better and have decided to keep him instead.
I recently got a new guinea pig, who is super adorable, who I named Nutmeg, and I bonded the pair today. It went really well! Their behaviors with each other never escalated past just chasing, rumblestrutting and trying to mount and hump each other. They'd be pretty active with that for a while, then calm for a little bit to eat some hay before starting up again, and they continued for about an hour, maybe an hour and a half before calming down and taking a nap together.
I just moved them to their new cage...well...new for Nutmeg, at least. Technically it's new to Calvin as well, because I rearranged everything. Calvin seems to really like it. He was having a great time exploring once I put him in, which makes me really happy. I haven't seen him so active or noisy since Hobbes' died, so it's nice to see him being more himself again. He REALLY needed company.
