I would not give apple puree,in fact no fruit at all.Have you tried removing all green food, brocoli etc for a few days to what happens.?.

The special pellets gps pass contain vitimin B12 which is why they reingest. If you do not want to give Zoe some of Jessies pellts, try a vitimin B12 supplement.

Slow weight loss could be indicative of a renal problem. It may not be to do with the digestive system.

Hi Choloe...how is Zoe today? Is she still taking medicine? Does the doctor think that any of this could be from the medicine? Maybe it's not agreeing with her? Ricky's poops have not gotten soft, but they have gotten much lighter and I'm thinking it's from the medicine. Poor Zoe had such major surgery. I just thought maybe the medicine is bothering her tummy. How is she acting? Does she seem herself, other than the mushy poops? I feel so bad that you can't get answers quicker. I wish I could send my vet over there! I really hope Zoe is feeling better today! I'm thinking of all of you today! :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

yeah i agree with mary try without fruit O0 have you tried her just on hay water and pellets for a few days? thats what i had to do for my pansy when she had dihorrea. O0 so if she is eating i wonder why she's losing weight? :-\ ((((hugs))))

hoping it isn't renal failure, :'( :'( :'(it is hard to take her of the brocoli and grass as she isn't really keen on the pellets. i didn't say i didn't want her to have jessie's poop, i just said jessie is a junk food piggy and i didn't think jessie's poops would help zoe inregards to her weight lost. :-\ :-\ :-\
the only medication zoe was on was protexin which is a probiotic which is suppossed to add good bugs to zoe's tummy, though she did have a few antibiotic injections before christmas and some metacam, then there was the surgery. hopefully the vet and i will have a chin wag and work out where to go from here. thanks for your replies and advice. hugs and cuddles to you and your babies. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

yeah, i know, she won't thank you for taking her off the veggies, but i just think it's worth a go. will she have pellets mushed with water off a spoonor from a syringe? i really do think she needs to be off the green stuff, it worked for pansy, i know it's a different problem, it's just it may be worth a go. in regards to the grass, is it possible there's anything nasty on that that she could have eaten? :-\

hello,
zoe won't eat the pellets off a spoon or in the bowl, as for the grass, it is from out back yard and we always washe and dry it before we give it to them. we have taken zoe of the greens except for the grass. so far it has not made a difference. am going down adelaide tomorrow to visit my parents and family at the cemeteries so will look at the petshops and maybe vets down there. maybe if i can find something with timothy grass hay in it that she will eat then she wouldn't get the grass either. still waiting to hear from the vet. will keep you posted. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

ahh thats a problem then, ok. thats fine then, well done! O0 just checking. thats good, ok then (((hugs))) :smitten:

Just a suggestion.Andy,Anne`s coleague, has taken a course in gp nutrition, might be worth emailing the surgery and asking his advice.

so your vet has tested for worms? because that can cause soft poops and unexplained weight loss :-\

okay email is written and sent. as for worms a poop sample was sent to the lab and was found to contain no parasites. will look down adelaide tomorrow for anything but pellets with timothy grass hay in them(she won't eat the pellets) will also pop into see vet and see if there is anything else we can test for before we do the poop switch. hugs and cuddles to you and yours. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

ok thats ruled that out O0 well done, you're doing the right things :smitten: you're a great mummy :smitten: :smitten:

i give up! my vet is trying i will give her that but she hasn't a clue and i am scared poor zoe will suffer in the mean time. here is the latest message from the vet. please do you think i should do the blood test?
Hi Mary,
Mary I think we can arrange to repopulate Zoe in here 80% of diet should be hay or fresh grass and small portion of pellets if at all as too low in fibre. Vegies and herbs need to be in small volumes on alternate days I shall have to do some investigation into the herbs to tell you re safety if this doesn't give control then talk to us. If not we can always run a blood smaple through to test the kidneys. I am away until next friday Lydia is working for me and carol at our nairne practice and I know they will be able to help if you need it.They can also organise the blood sample if you want.
Best Wishes Kirsty.

i feel like i am hitting my head against a brick wall and getting no where and in the mean time zoe could suffer! still no timothy hay grass. tried around 12 pet shops and 6 fodder stores and no luck. i already suffer with depression and this is just not helping. please any suggestions? before i pull my hair out. :'( :tickedoff: :'( :tickedoff:

Hi love, have you tried that oxbow website in SA yet? they should be able to supply you with all their products O0 O0 well the ones we import here :)
For them to take a blood sample they will give her some gas and then they usually shave the spot .... that's what my vet does anyways :-\
I'd keep up with the pellets mushed cause at least that's goodness for a start and keep offering the hay and your grass O0
((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))) for you love, it looks like this little girl has thrown a real curly one up for the vets :( :( :(
Come on Zoe keep eating little one we're all crossing our paws for you :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

hello again,
have heard from laura from the vet(kirsten is now on holidays till friday) she wants me to feed zoe nothing but grass and hay all weekend to see if zoe's tummy settles down-high fibre diet. if not she wants to see zoe early in the week and will take blood from her jangular vein to check for kidneys etc. all this may be find concerning zoe's poop but it doesn't explain why zoe is losing weight. will keep you posted. they are going to try to take the blood sample if needed without gas as zoe is so laid back. no glynis i haven't checked the site you gave me concerning the oxbow products as zoe and jessie didn't like the pellets i didn't think it was worth while. for now all she is allowed to eat is grass and lots of hay. soft poops would not cause zoe to lose weight, why aren't the vet worried? yes stay calm well trying too. but vets aren't making it easy! :tickedoff: :tickedoff: :tickedoff: :tickedoff: :tickedoff: :tickedoff:

i'm sorry your having such a hard time. a blood test sounds like a good idea (((hugs))) :smitten:

good morning all,
zoe is not a happy camper! can't even take 2 steps without her squeaking the poor love! somehow i don't know how but a friend sent me a picture which put a smile on my face and thought i would share it.

okay lets hope this works. clink onto the link.

heard from vet again, this lydia who is taking kirsten's place for a week while she has a short hoilday. she said zoe will get everything she needs diet wise from the hay and grass and has told us to put a vitamin c supplement in her drinking water. i will also add some to the pre boiled water i am giving zoe. if by monday if poops are still soft will go for the blood test. for now we have one unhappy chappy, i had an apple earlier and poor little zoe squeaked so much you would think i was killing her. will keep you posted. this is from zoe :tickedoff: :tickedoff: :tickedoff: :tickedoff: :tickedoff: but fro m me hug and cuddles :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

If this were my pig I would not remove all the veggies,as they do love them.Just give very small amounts, just enough to keep her happy.

hello all,
the all grass, hay diet seems to be working so far (touching wood) zoe's poops have returned to normal shape but are still green. zoe is squeaking a lot but is getting lots of cuddles and kissies. tomorrow hopefully we can start to slowly add things back to her diet and start to monitor her weight. thanks for all your replies and advice. will keep you updated. thanks again. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

zoe is going crazy squeaking every time someone walks around but the grass and hay diet seems to be working. zoe's poop has returned to normal though they are still green in colour. hopefully as it is now monday the vet will suggest adding something else to her diet, i am presuming adding food will be very slow. will keep you posted. thats for all the advice and replies. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

thats great! glad it's working! :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: (hugs) i bet you're releived! :smitten:

yes it is a relief, especially knowing today is monday and that the vet may let zoe eat something besides grass and hay. we aren't getting to excited about it yet, as zoe has been through a lot and we still haven't worked out what set her poops of in the first place. but for now we are heaving a big sigh of relief. hugs and cuddles to you and your babies. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: will see/speak to vet today so hopefully will have an update to post today. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

I'm so happy Zoe is feeling better! That's good news! Ricky had a day or two with green poops, but I didn't think nothing of it. I hope that wasn't serious, but they are back to normal now! Poor Zoe with the apple! I'm sure she'll have her favorite foods back soon! Poor piggie has been through so much! You feel bad not giving them their favorite foods! But things sound good for her and I'm so happy to hear it! :D :D

spoke with the vet who is very happy that zoe's poops are returning to normal. she wants zoe to be on the grass and hay diet for 2 and a bit more days-wednesday our time and then we add fruit and veg to her diet very slowly like wednesday a little carrot, thursday a little more carrot, friday normal carrot, saturday a small bit of spinach etc etc. this way hopefully zoe's tummy won't get upset but if it should we will know what foods upset her tummy. so it will be a slow hard road for zoe but a road we must take. will keep you posted and any updates. weighed zoe and she is 0.900grams so will see if she is still losing weight. thanks for all the replies and advice. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

YAYYYYY we're doing a little piggie dance here....... awwwwww Zoe you're such a good little girl :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:
Oh love you've been thru the wringer way too many times and this little girl has thrown some loopies but hey looks like the light is def shining down that tunnel :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: this is just great O0 O0 O0 O0
Super duper piggie kisses from Duke and lots and lots of mini little kisses on that cute nose and little ears for Zoe :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:
an you two need a darn medal for this...........gosh this is great :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:
