Sunflower advice please

I was given these sunflowers from a friend and was wondering if the petals on the sunflower are safe to give to my girls?I have read that they are but I would like to make sure first so you're advice would be very much appreciated x

To be honest, there are so many things which are definitely safe that it’s no probably not worth the risk

Sunflower petals are safe, however this only applies to sunflowers that have been grown well away from a source of pollutants, and not been treated at all with any chemicals or pesticides.
In the case of bought flowers i would usually assume they are not safe, and not risk feeding them.

Sometimes commercial flowers are ‘sprayed’ to maintain their look and to prevent early petal drop so best to avoid.
