Hello,

I recently re-homed a 5 month old boar called 'Theodore'. He had been in the rescue for a while because his right eye is sunken due to an ulcer a few months back, or that is what I have been told.
The vet said to me that he is fine but if there are ever signs that it is starting to cause him pain or discomfort that I should bring him back to get his eye removed. I was aware of that but I am just wondering if anyone knew any ways of reducing that risk. Any help and/or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thankyou

I don't think there is much you can do now that there is no issue with it. I am sure that the vets have tried a range of eye drops to see whether it makes a difference - and it obviously hasn't.

Hopefully you will not experience any further problems, but if there are, it is better to act quickly - that was your vet's message. Sadly, eye problems that were left untreated for too long before the rescue can leave long term problems like weepy or sunken eyes or permanently blocked tear ducts (like in the case of one of mine).

Great that you are giving this little boy a loving home!
