I heard someone mention that with the different coloured bags, one doesn't have the harmful colourings in it? I'm not sure though, maybe I read wrongly.

Naturally. It's like feeding human children plates of chips and bars of chocolate routinely - of course they will turn up their noses at a healthy plate of broccoli! There have been several instances of people being warned against using Gerty by CCT trained vets. According to a member on GL, Edinburgh university vet school also believe that the additives in Gerty have contributed to an increasing number of pigs with diabetes (http://www.guinealynx.info/forums/viewtopic.php?p=957848#957848).

It is your choice ultimately, but I don't think you're benefitting their health by feeding them it.

I've been feeding our 2 on this and now you've worried me. What's the best stuff to feed them on then other than the usual veggies, hay ets?

but there wont eat any other dry food as somtimes there didnt have gerty in the pet shop in our village so my dad wiould bring another kind and there just tip it out of the dish and wont eat it

my other 2 younger ones i put plattes in there gerty and there eat them but my other 2 wont eat the plattes there leave them a the bottom but i got my oldr 2 from a breeder and that is what food she said to get them

If you stick with another food the pigs will eat it. Small amounts can be mixed with the existing food and the pigs might leave it but when you eventually switch over they will start to eat it when they realise they won't be getting the old one back! If the pigs have unlimited hay and a good balance of vegetables then the dry food is an extra, not a necessity.

I don't know what you mean by plattes?

the long borwn things there in an orange bag at pets at home

my older 2 girls are very stubbran and if there dont wont to eat something there wont i mena 1 week there will eat apples and the next week there wont etc

Do you mean pellets? The only thing I know of that's in an orange bag is Supa Guinea Excel. This (in my opinion) is a better choice than Gerty.

yes thats what i mean i do mix them in but jsut leave them at the bottom my little ones eat them
