So I have 4 piggies one male 18 months and three females 6ish months and 5+years. After a failed bonding Ive rejigged my cage set up to give them 2 2x4's and a 2x3 (C&C cages). My 5 years old has been in her same 2x4 for the last two years since I took her in but she doesnt use half of the cage because shes a lazy princess. Shes not depressed shes just always been this way even with her previous cage mate and I can spread her bits all around the cage and wake up in the morning to her having moved it all together. I'm debating swapping her and the boar so he'd have the larger cage and she'd have the slightly smaller one. But especially as shes in her twightly years and after the stress of the failed bonding I dont want to stress her out any further. Does anyone know if this would cause her a lot more stress?

I've moved mine around several times when I think a new arrangement would work better (8 guinea pigs, 6 cages!). I've not had a problem with it, just make sure you give the cages a good wash to remove the smell of the previous occupant and move them both with their own soiled bedding so the new cage smells like theirs. If she doesn't use the whole cage it makes sense to give the boar the extra space.
