we have 4 youngish pigs (1 and a half and 2) in one cage and 2 older ones(4 and a half) in the other cage. One of the older ones died last week. I have tried sitting her (Daisy) on my lap with the most placid pig from the group of 4 (Nutmeg) which has gone well, but when I tried to put nutmeg into daisy’s cage Daisy became aggressive and I had to remove her. Should I try to put them together or are friendly cuddles the best we can hope for? They are all girls.

Thanks, do you think I should do this sooner rather than later? She doesn’t seem too sad yet but last time we had a pair where one died it took a few weeks to affect the remaining pig. Should I try to bond them only if Daisy gets sad or lonely?

OK I am attempting to bond bereaved Daisy with Nutmeg from the next door group of 4. All girls. Wish me luck....Daisy has been teeth chattering a lot so far!

Just remember that bonding needs to be done in neutral territory (neutral for ALL piggies) with lots of open space and large piles of hay for distraction.
Piggies sitting next to each other (or not) doesn't allow them to act out their natural bonding behaviours.

I hope it goes well for your girls.

Yes I have them in the shower area with hay, Daisy is till very unhappy, how long would you leave it?
