Swedish piggies outside!

Today it was finally warm enough to take the piggers outside. I ran home from work because I was so excited! I put the piggies in the carrier (that I hadn't even cleaned out yet) grabbed a hamster run and a few fleeces and walked down to the grass outside my house.

This is what it looked like inside the carrier after five minutes of patient waiting from my side. The pigger were NOT interested in any stupid grass, thank you very much!

So I grabbed Bo, because he was the closest and the bravest (I thought)

And after snapping this picture realised that this is what a deadly terrified piggy looks like... So I picked him up, snuggled and got told off and put him back in the carrier. I felt awful and was just gonna take them back up.

But then Martha found some guts...and Mette-Marit was a bit curious too!

Yes, this tastes good! Edible floor, Yay!

And then a veeeery long Bo emerged.

But retreated with a complimentary snack.

While Martha continued mowing the lawn!

He is ok now, popcorning around the cage... I felt pretty bad traumatising him like that, though. Next time I will put a fleece over the whole run, I think!
 
I think you were forgiven. He looked pretty pleased with the bribes...Lovely to see piggies starting to munch the edible floor!

Can't wait to take Edward to my mum's so he can enjoy the grass there!
We only have to wait 3 more weeks before we can get some company for him! (But it's going to be a loooonngg 3 weeks) x

It may take severla trips for the piggies to get used to the big outside.

I still have at least two or three firm "hut huggers" in my tribe!
 
Aw that's so cute. :) I love seeing piggies out enjoying the grass.

When I put my piggies out on the grass this Spring they loved it straight away, and just started eating! It was their first time eating grass. :) But they were already outside, so I guess they're used to the big open spaces anyway.

No, it didn't. The shelf is thin wood (a bookshelf back) and I duct-taped it into place... As you can see the finish isn't fantastic... I have plans to redo it in a sturdier fashion, I can make a thread about it then. I just wanted to use the height of the carrier, the piggies don't do it :). I let Martha go on top and Bo and Mette-Marit downstairs.

Glad that some of the piggys enjoyed the grass. :)) I'm sure they will soon click on that grass is very tasty. :)
 
your piggies are sooo cute. I remember putting my girls out in their run for the first time and them being slightly freaked by the wind (it doesn't blow indoors i suppose):(|)
 
Yup, Mete-Marit is getting cuter and braver every day :) She's only two, so I hope I will be able to share my life with her for a long time! The rescue lady has just told me that her "breeder" (rather person with a lot of GPs breeding uncontrolled in a big barn...) had lots of Cuy piggies so that might explain why she is so very skittish.

Yes, the wind might have freaked them out and there were new sounds too, birds and cars and people. I might go somewhere quieter next time.
 
Ok I have completely fallen in love with Mette-Marit (the others are gorgeous too of course).

Poor Bo being the first, he's so victimised being put on fresh grass like that! I LOVE little Mette-Merit's eyes, they're like little black marbles. Shiny and round little beads taking in all the world, so cute. :)
